Fury has toppled Gone Girl from the top of the U.S. box office.

Fury marks the return of Brad Pitt in a leading role, as he teams up with filmmaker David Ayer for the first time.

Fury is a Second World War movie and follows a tank crew who are fighting on the front line. Pitt is joined on the cast list by Logan Lerman and Shia LaBeouf.

The movie closed the BFI London Film Festival last night and too $23.5 million to take the number one spot in the U.S.

Gone Girl slipped just a single place this week as it continues to take over critics and audiences. This week saw the David Fincher directed film break $100 million at the U.S. box office.

The Book of Life was new at three while family film Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was down one at four.

The Best of Me is the latest Nicholas Sparks film to be adapted for the big screen, and was the third and final new entry at five.

Dracula Untold was down four places this week at six, while The Judge fell two places from five to seven.

Annabelle is another four place faller at eight, while The Equalizer was down two at nine. The Maze Runner also fell two to round off the top ten.
