Gal Gadot says she is 'excited' about her role as Wonder Woman but feels that there is also a lot of 'responsibility' with playing such an iconic character.

Gadot is set to take over the role of Wonder Woman for the first time when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year. She will go on to appear in a solo movie as well as be part of the upcoming Justice League movies.

The movie is set to send Gadot's star rocketing and she revealed that she wants to inspire people with this role.

Speaking to Interview Magazine, the actress said: "Oh, my God, I'm so excited about this role. I feel like I've been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for.

"There's a lot of responsibility. But I have the best team and the best people to work with. It's going to be an amazing ride, knock on wood."

Gadot is set to join forces with Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck - who take on the roles of Superman and Batman in the film - while Zack Snyder is set to return to the director's chair for the film.

Gadot is no stranger to the blockbuster with the Fast & Furious franchise under her belt, however, this is set to be the biggest role of her career

Gadot has also completed work on Criminal with Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Costner and Triple 9, which sees her team up with Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Woody Harrelson, and Casey Affleck.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is released 25th March.
