Gerard Butler

Gerard Butler is believed to be in talks for a remake of Point Break.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Butler is in final negotiations to star in the film, which will be directed by Ericson Core.

Butler is set to take on the role of extreme sports athlete Bodhi and the movie will be set in the world of extreme sports.

The screenplay has been penned by Kurt Wimmer, who has written scripts for Salt, Law Abiding Citizen and The Recruit.

Core is best known for his cinematography work, and this would be only his second directorial outing; his first was Invincible back in 2006.

Point Break was released back in 1991 and saw Keanu Reeves team up with Patrick Swayze while Kathryn Bigelow was in the director's chair.

We haven't seen Butler on the big screen since Olympus Has Fallen, but he has completed work on How To Train Your Dragon 2. The movie will see him voice the character of Stoick the Vast for the second time.

Butler has a couple of other exciting projects in the pipeline including Gods of Egypt and London Has Fallen: the latter is a sequel to Olympus Has Fallen.
