2015 has already been a very busy year for Chris Hemsworth and he is set to return to the big screen this December with In The Heart of the Sea.

In The Heart of the Sea

In The Heart of the Sea sees the popular actor reunite with filmmaker Ron Howard for the first time since the huge success of Rush back in 2013. In fact, this is the first film for Howard since the F1 drama.

In The Heart of the Sea is set in 1820 and is based on the true story of a whaling ship that is hunted by a sperm whale... this is the tale that went on to inspire the iconic novel Moby Dick.

The brand new trailer for the film has arrived and it is promising to be an edge of your seat film experience:

Hemsworth, who has already enjoyed success this year with Avengers: Age of Ultron, is set to take on the central role of Owen Chase and it is already great to see him back in a major film role.

He is joined by an all star cast as Frank Dillane, Cillian Murphy, Tom Holland, Ben Whishaw, Brendan Gleeson, Paul Anderson, Charlotte Riley, and Michelle Fairley are all also on board.

In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. In the Heart of the Sea reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive.

Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.

I have been a huge fan of Ron Howard for many years and In The Heart of the Sea is promising to be another gem from the filmmaker.

In The Heart of the Sea is released 26th December.
