James Franco

James Franco

James Franco reveals that he learnt a whole host of magic tricks as he prepared for his role in Oz The Great and Powerful.

The Oscar nominated actor is set to take on the role of a magician in the Sam Raimi directed film - which is set before the popular tale of The Wizard of Oz.

And Franco spent a couple of months working in Las Vegas with Lance Burton has he got ready for the film.

Speaking to SFX the actor said: "I learned to materialise live doves and pull rabbits out of hats. I think I did pretty well.

"But as usual, when the director insists on intense preparation, whatever scenes you're preparing for so diligently are cut from the final movie."

"I have [the clips] on my iPhone. Maybe I'll put those on the internet in a few years."

It is set to be a busy year for the actor as Oz The Great and Powerful is just one of the films that will be hitting the big screen.

Also set to release this year are Lovelace, This Is The End, Spring Breakers, and The Iceman.

He has also completed work on Child of God, Black Dog, Red Dog and Homefront.

Oz The Great And Powerful is released 8th March
