James Marsden

James Marsden looks set to replace Paul Walker in The Best of Me.

The Best of Me is a big screen adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name, and Deadline have reported that Marsden has been offered the lead male role.

Walker was in line to take on the role but tragically passed away at the end of 2013 in a car accident.

Michael Hoffman is in the director's chair for the film, while Michelle Monaghan is already on board.

The film follows two former high school sweethearts who meet again many years later when they both return to their hometown.

Marsden was last seen on the big screen in December as one of the new faces in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

But we are going to be seeing plenty of this year as he has already completed work on Nailed, Walk of Shame, The Loft and Endangered.

The Best of Me is not the only movie that Walker had in the pipeline and is now having to be recast.

It is reported that Rupert Friend is being considered for Agent 47.
