Lawrence, who's starred in a string hit movies, including the 'Hunger Games' franchise and 'Silver Linings Playbook', is set to pocket as much as $20 million against 30 percent of the profit after the movie breaks even.

Meanwhile, Chris - her co-star in the upcoming sci-fi drama - has agreed a deal worth $12 million, which was recently increased by $2 million following the box office success of 'Jurassic World', according to The Hollywood Reporter.

'Passengers', which is set to begin filming in September, has been pitched as 'Gravity' with romance and will be helmed by Oscar-nominated director Morten Tyldum.

Jennifer's earnings have become a source of interest ever since leaked Sony emails revealed she and Amy Adams, who played the female leads in 'American Hustle', received less than their male co-stars, Bradley Cooper, Chrisitan Bale and Jeremy Renner, for the 2013 film.

The news prompted an angry response from some leading figures in Hollywood, including Oscar winner Charlize Theron.

She said: "If you're doing the same job, you should be compensated and treated in the same way."
