Having redefined the horror genre, director Jordan Peele is back with yet another slice of updated pop nightmare with the expansive sci-fi horror epic, Nope. Now, it should be noted that if you wanted to go into this film blind, you shouldn’t watch the new trailer or read any further!
Reuniting the Oscar-winning filmmaker with fellow Academy Award winner, Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), the movie also stars Keke Palmer (Hustlers) and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), as residents of a fairly isolated gulch of inland California.
Making an unexpected and terrifying discovery, they must work together to survive against all of the odds, as an unidentified flying object and all of the scares and thrills that come with it make their presence known.
"What's a bad miracle?" I think the characters in Nope are about to find out...
The trailer comes after months of speculation as to what Peele’s latest flick would be about. There had been little in the way of clues in teasers released up to this point, but now we know that Kaluuya and Palmer will play sibling duo James and Jill Haywood.
Realising that there’s money to be made in collecting undeniable proof of the existence of alien lifeforms on Earth, the pair set up cameras around their ranch in a bid to film footage that will catapult them into the spotlight and, bump up their bank accounts.
Of course, things are never that simple. With destruction on the cards, will the brother-sister team be able to make some well-deserved money or, will their lives be brought to an untimely end when all is said and done?
As well as both writing and directing, Peele also served as producer alongside Ian Cooper. Robert Graf is an executive producer on the project.
Nope comes to cinemas across the UK on August 12th, 2022, following its debut in the United States on July 22nd, 2022.
