Kill The Messenger

Kill The Messenger

Kill The Messenger may have been pushed back to 2015 in the UK, but that doesn't mean it is not a film that we are super excited about.

Kill The Messenger will mark the return of Jeremy Renner to the big screen in a leading dramatic role.

Directed by Michael Cuesta, Kill The Messenger tells the real story of journalist Gary Webb, who uncovers a huge story.

However it is a story that is bigger than he ever imagined, as this brand new trailer shows:

Kill The Messenger is the first film for Cuesta since Roadie back in 2011. It is based on the book of the same name by Nick Schou and Dark Alliance by Gary Webb and has been adapted for the big screen by Peter Landesman.

A great cast has been assembled for the film, as Renner is joined by Michael Sheen, Ray Liotta, Barry Pepper and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

The movie follows Webb as he stumbles onto a story, which leads to the shady origins of the men who started the crack epidemic on the nation’s streets... and further alleges that the CIA was aware of major dealers who were smuggling cocaine into the U.S., and using the profits to arm rebels fighting in Nicaragua.

Despite warnings from drug kingpins and CIA operatives to stop his investigation, Webb keeps digging to uncover a conspiracy with explosive implications.

His journey takes him from the prisons of California to the villages of Nicaragua to the highest corridors of power in Washington, D.C. - and draws the kind of attention that threatens not just his career, but also his family and his life.

Kill The Messenger is released 6th March 2015.
