Stewart is in talks to play Bridget Sullivan, the Borden's live-in maid, in the upcoming feature film which will star Chloe Sevigny as the notorious Lizzie, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Lizzie was an American woman - born in 1860 - who was tried and acquitted for the 1892 axe murders of her father and her stepmother in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Pieter Van Hees will direct the movie from a script written by Bryce Kass.

Meanwhile, Kristen recently insisted that life experience and age have helped her perform better as an actress.

Speaking about 'Equals', the sci-fi romantic drama she starred in with Nicholas Hoult, she said: "If I had done this movie at 18, I could have projected those feelings because they're inside of you when you're born. That's all of your instincts to want to couple; you have these ideals. And I think I probably would have idolised the movie and made it more ambiguous and less romantic.

"But the point of this movie is to show how deeply you can fall and how sure you can be about something and then how that grows and changes, how your ideals can be shattered but that doesn't lessen the beauty. Life is hard!"
