Mark Strong

Mark Strong says he found the character of Jacob Sternwood very interesting and that is what drew him to Welcome To The Punch.

The British actor is back on the big screen this week as he teams up with director Eran Creevy for the first time.

Strong admits that he liked the family aspect of this character as well as the fact that he teams up with the man who is trying to put him in jail.

Speaking to HeyUGuys the actor said: "I think it’s because his criminal nastiness is in the past, so he has been, obviously, this terrible person, but you don’t know what he’s done, so when you meet him - he’s actually coming back to London for the love of his son and I thought that was very believable, that even criminals or villains love their children.

"Then of course the fact that he gets involved with this guy who is after him in order to diffuse a larger conspiracy, I just found very interesting."

Strong stars alongside James McAvoy in the movie while Andrea Riseborough, David Morrissey, Jason Flemyng and Peter Mullan are all on the cast list.

And we are going to be seeing plenty of Strong on the big screen this year as he has completed work on Mindscape, Closer to the Moon and Justin and the Knights of Valour.

Welcome to the Punch is released 15th March.
