Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar

Matthew McConaughey has described new film Interstellar as the ‘grandest adventure’ that we are going to see on the big screen.

McConaughey is set to return to cinema screens this autumn for the first time since his Best Actor Oscar triumph at the beginning of the year, as he teams up with director Christopher Nolan for the first time.

It is always exciting when a Nolan movie is on the horizon, but this time around the filmmaker is taking us into the depths of space in this brand new sci-fi project. And McConaughey claims this is the biggest film he has ever been a part of.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, the actor said:

“This is the grandest adventure I think any of us will ever see on film…

“This is the biggest film I’ve ever been a part of. This is one of the biggest films anyone’s ever been a part of.”

Nolan has teamed up with his brother Jonathan to pen the screenplay, while McConaughey will lead an impressive and all-star cast. Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Wes Bentley, Casey Affleck, and Michael Caine are all also on board.

Interstellar chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage

2014 has been a terrific year for McConaughey, as he has enjoyed big screen and small screen success. Not only did Dallas Buyers Club bring him his first Oscar, but True Detectives has been one of the best TV shows of the year; the series saw him team up with Woody Harrelson.

McConaughey is currently filming his new movie The Sea of Trees, which sees Gus Van Sant back in the director’s chair. Naomi Watts and Ken Watanabe are also on board.

Interstellar is released 7th November.
