This past week has seen some exciting announcements from the movie world, such as Ice Cube’s upcoming movie project, Courteney Cox returning for Scream 6, and another casting announcement for Fast X. Read about all this, and more, below!

New cast member revealed for Fast X movie

The 10th entry into the long-running Fast and Furious franchise has been announcing new cast members somewhat frequently, and this week marks yet another addition.

Alan Ritchson (Jack Reacher, Titans) is the latest name to be attached to Fast X. Ritchson will be joining other stars such as Jason Momoa and Brie Larson in the upcoming feature; the actor’s role, like other cast members, is being kept under wraps at the moment.

The star posted a humorous response to the announcement on his Instagram, with the caption ‘Really hope this doesn’t affect my car insurance’.

While the release date for Fast X hasn’t been revealed just yet, there will likely be more cast announcements to come as the upcoming entry appears to be a star-studded affair.

Courteney Cox returns to Scream franchise

Scream is an incredible franchise, one that now has five films under its belt and has one of the most iconic slasher/horror villains of all time, Ghostface.

Now, more news of the already confirmed sixth film is releasing, including the first legacy character to return to the franchise.

Courteney Cox, who played Gale Weathers in the franchise, is the first returning cast member announced to be involved with Scream 6. Scream (2022) did incredibly well in cinemas, sparking a revived interest in the series, and also a sense of awe and appreciation from fans.

Neve Campbell, who plays iconic character Sidney Prescott, is still unclear on her return, but with the movie already having a release date of March next year (2023), news of whether she will make an appearance or not may not be too far away.

Godzilla vs Kong 2 has cast Dan stevens in lead human role

Godzilla vs Kong 2 has revealed its main actor to take on the role of the human in focus, Dan Stevens.

Both Godzilla and King Kong have received their own solo films (with Godzilla getting two) in recent years, to both re-define the characters and set them both up for roles in Warner Bros. MonsterVerse. Godzilla got his new movie in 2014, while Kong broke new ground in 2017 with Kong: Skull Island

Both movies did rather well, leading to the two Titans going head-to-head in 2021’s Godzilla vs Kong. The film’s success obviously meant a sequel was on its way.

As expected, Stevens’ role is currently unknown, other than that he is the lead. He is also the only cast member attached to the project at the moment, other than Godzilla and Kong, of course.

Ice Cube is making a comedy movie titled Cube In My Head

Ice Cube, a rapper-turned-actor, is currently working on an all-new film, which he will both star in and produce, titled Cube In My Head

Ice Cube originally became well-known for his talents in music and rapping, and for being part of the group NWA. Now, he is a successful actor with films such as 21 Jump Street and Ride Along under his belt, with both of these movies getting sequels.

The film is reportedly about a man who, after getting into a car accident, hears Ice Cube’s voice in his head (just as the title suggests). Ice Cube’s voice is said to provide the man with wisdom and advice so he can get his life back together.

While there is little information about the feature thus far, and it may be some time away, fans of the star can still enjoy the other projects involving Ice Cube, such as a third instalment of the hilarious Ride Along franchise.

Dune 2 casts Christopher Walken in key role

Christopher Walken has recently been cast in a key role for Dune 2. The actor will portray the Emperor, a character who pulled many of the strings in 2021’s Dune, but stayed hidden offscreen.

Dune was incredibly successful when it released in both cinemas and on HBO Max last year (2021), which meant a sequel would not be too far away. The film starred Timothée Chalamet, Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, and more.

The Emperor was the one who, in the 2021 feature, told Duke Leto (Isaac) to rule over Arrakis, knowing is would cause great problems for both House Atreides and House Harkonnen.

Fans will be excited to hear that Dune 2 is slated to begin production later this year, and has an expected release date of October, 2023.
