Michael Bay

Michael Bay has revealed that he will not be returning to direct a fifth Transformers film.

Bay was back in the director's chair this summer as Transformers: Age of Extinction hit the big screen - which has gone on to enjoy huge box office success.

He temporarily left the franchise after the release Dark of the Moon, but he is already planning the other movies that he is keen to work on.

Speaking to USA Today, the director said: "There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make.

"I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles."

Bay brought Transformers to the big screen for the first time back in 2007, and has directed all three of the sequels that have been released.

Age of Extinction is the first film of 2014 to break through the $1billion at the global box office.

So far, Age of Extinction is the most successful film of the summer and of the year.

Bay did not go on to talk about the projects that he wants to direct, but he has been linked to a third Bad Boys film for some time
