Michael Fassbender

Michael Fassbender has revealed that taking on the role of Macbeth was 'scary'.

Fassbender is set to play the title character in a new adaptation of the William Shakespeare classic: a film that will see him team up with director Justin Kurzel.

The film sees the Oscar nominated actor work with both Marion Cotillard & Paddy Considine for the first time, and he has nothing but praise for his co-stars.

Speaking to the Press Association, the actor said: "(It was) scary. I hope I did justice to it.

"It’s pretty big boots to fill, but I loved the experience and loved working with Justin and Marion. She’s so courageous and such a wonderful actor to work with.

"Paddy Considine, I’ve been a big fan of his for a long time so it was great to do scenes with him as well."

Macbeth will mark on the second feature film for director Kurzel, who made his debut with Snowtown back in 2011.

As for Fassbender, he is currently enjoying huge box office success with X-Men: Days of Future Past.

We are also set to see him in Slow West and an untitled Terrence Malick project: he has finished filming on both.

There is not UK release date for Macbeth just yet.
