Nicholas Hoult admits that he is surprised by the success of his latest film Warm Bodies.

The film is a big screen adaptation of the novel of the same name and sees the actor team up with Teresa Palmer and director Jonathan Levine.

Warm Bodies topped the box office in the U.S. as well as doing well in the UK and Hoult is hoping that the success of the film will open some acting doors for him.

Speaking to Collider the actor said: "Yeah, it was a very pleasant surprise.

"Obviously I loved the script and the character and really enjoyed making the film and thought that everyone involved was very talented, but it's a big relief when something comes out and people seem to like it and go and see and it does well. It's always a big reward at the end."

"When something is successful it means hopefully it opens up other doors and means you carry on to do things you like and care about, and work with good people."

But Hoult doesn’t need much help in landing roles as we are going to be seeing him lead the cast once again in Jack The Giant Slayer – a new take on the popular tale of Jack and the Beanstalk.

The film sees Hoult work with director Bryan Singer for the first time; the pair will reunite later this year as they begin filming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is the sequel to X-Men: First Class and Hoult is all set to reprise the role of beat/ Hank McCoy.

James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence will all be retuning while Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan and Hugh Jackman are some big name additions to the cast list.

Warm Bodies is out now.
