Peyton Reed

Peyton Reed

Peyton Reed has been named as the director to replace Edgar Wright at the helm of Ant-Man.

Wright left the project at the end of last month, stating creative differences were the reason why he would not be in the director's chair for the film.

Only last week Adam McKay was being linked to the job, but it has now been announced that Reed is on board to direct.

The new broke over the weekend on Marvel's official website.

Reed has been behind movies such as The Break-Up and Bring It On, but this will be his first film since Yes Man; he has been working in TV for the last couple of years.

Michael Douglas is set to star as Hank Pym in the film, while Paul Rudd is on board as Scott Lang.

Patrick Wilson, Michael Pena and Evangeline Lilly make up the cast list.

Ant-Man is currently in pre-production and will kick off Marvel's Phase Three of movies next summer.

Ant-Man is scheduled to hit the big screen 17th July 2015.
