Race is set to hit the big screen at the beginning of June and the official new UK poster for the first has been unveiled.

Race

Race

Directed by Stephen Hopkins, Race follows athletics star Jesse Owens, who took the sport by storm at the Olympics in 1936.

Stephan James, who takes centre stage in the poster, takes on the central role of Owens in what is one of the biggest roles of his career to date.

Race is only the fourth feature film of Hopkins' career and comes after The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, The Reaping, and Thorne: Sleepyhead. He is best known for his TV work in recent years with the likes of House of Lines and Californication under his belt.

The director has brought together a great cast as Jason Sudeikis, Eli Goree, Shanice Banton, Caprice Van Houton, Jeremy Iron, William Hurt, and David Kross star alongside James.

In 1936 the Olympic Games were held in Berlin, Germany. Organised by the ruling Nazi-Party, the games were intended to showcase Hitler's vision of the supremacy of the Aryan race. That Nazi dream was shattered by a black American athlete named Jesse Owens.

Race is based on the incredible true story of Jesse Owens, a man that the New York Times called 'the greatest and most famous athlete in track and field history.' Race is an enthralling film about courage, determination, friendship and an inspiring drama about one man's fight to become an Olympic legend.

Race is released 3rd June.
