Ridley Scott

Ridley Scott has described his new film The Counsellor as a departure from anything that he has done before.

Scott returns to the director's chair for the first time since the success of Prometheus last summer for this new drama.

And Scott says he really enjoyed the character driven aspect of the film.

Speaking to Sky New he said: "It's pretty much a departure from what I have done before.

"There's no spaceships, there's no explosions, there's no bombs going off. I love the fact it just focuses on the characters and their journey and their dilemma."

Scott has brought together a terrific cast for the film as Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem and Cameron Diaz are all on board.

The Counsellor is also written by author Cormac McCarthy in what his is first screenplay to be developed.

The Counsellor is released 15th November.
