Reynolds will be back on the big screen in the new year for the first Deadpool solo film - a movie that looked like it may never get made. But the persistence from the actor and director Tim Miller has seen it become one of the most anticipated films of 2016.

Reynolds is set to reprise the title role in a film that is promising to be as funny as it is violent. And the actor says that he has enjoyed the experience of breaking the fourth wall with this film.

Speaking to Collider, the actor said: "Every comic book movie I go to nobody f***ing dies! We get an opportunity to do this in a way that follows all the scripture that Deadpool's laid out, which is fourth-wall breaking, that kind of mercenary sensibility and humour and then we also have this opportunity, which is very rare in this world, to do something that's not necessarily for just kids.

"There's some pretty racy, pretty hyper-violent things that happen in this movie and it's been a lot of fun to shoot."

Deadpool will see Reynolds team up with Miller for the first time as he makes his feature film directorial debut with the project.

Deadpool is based on the Marvel Comic series and has been adapted for the big screen by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Reynolds is joined on the cast list by Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, T.J. Miller, and Ed Skrein as Copycat, Angel Dust, Weasel, and Ajax.

2016 is set to be the year of the comic book movie and Deadpool will kick it all off in February.

Deadpool is released 4th February.
