Simon Pegg says there's a 'complexity' to Idris Elba's character in Star Wars Beyond.
The brand new trailer for Star Wars Beyond dropped earlier this week and sees Pegg reprise the role of Scotty. As well as being back on the cast list, Pegg has also teamed up with Doug Jung to pen the film's screenplay.
Idris Elba is the big new addition to the cast list as he takes on the role of Krall and Pegg has dropped some little hints as to what we can expect from this character.
Speaking to Collider, Pegg said: "Idris is doing some extraordinary work at the moment. Me and Doug and Justin sat down with him a few weeks ago in preparation for his scenes and really got to the bottom of who he is in this movie - and I can't tell you that, because there's a lot of complexity about him and stuff that's mysterious about him, which I obviously want to maintain.
"But he's just this very formidable, very powerful person, thing, that they encounter. It's obvious to say he's a match for Kirk, obviously, but there's a dynamic between them that's very interesting, and that will all become clear."
Star Trek Beyond sees Pegg reunite with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, and John Cho as they reprise the roles of Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Bones, Chekov, and Sulu.
However, it is all change in the director's chair as Justin Lin takes over from J.J. Abrams for the first time. This will be Lin's first film since the success of Fast & Furious 6.
As for Pegg, we are also going to see him return to the Ice Age franchise as he lends his voice to the character of Buck in Ice Age: Collision Course this summer.
Star Trek Beyond is released 22nd July.
