Sofia Coppola refuses to read reviews about her movies as she's too "sensitive".
The 'Bling Ring' director - who has previously won an Academy Award for her film 'Lost In Translation' - says despite the success of her work in the past she can't face reading articles about her movies.
She told The Times Magazine: "I'm too sensitive. If I'm happy with it, I like it. I don't want to hear people putting me up or down. I'd rather not care what other people think.
"I think a film can look good and have depth. I don't think anyone likes to read their films lack substance. I don't avoid people. I don't live in a bubble."
Before she started working behind the camera, Sofia started her movie career appearing as an actress in several of her father Francis Ford Coppola films, but her acting career was effectively ended after her role as Mary Corleone in 1990's 'The Godfather Part III' earned her the Worst Supporting Actress and Worst New Star titles at the Golden Raspberry Awards.
Sofia found the harsh criticism of her performance hard to handle at the time and she felt bad for embarrassing her revered filmmaker dad.
She said: "It was really brutal. I was 18 and it was hard to be so put down. To be on the cover of a magazine with the headline 'She Ruined Her Dad's Movie' made me feel bad for embarrassing him. But I wasn't devastated. It wasn't my dream to be an actor."
