Netflix have officially announced the start of filming on their third season of sci-fi original series Stranger Things, from creators Matt and Ross Duffer. Releasing a video that shows the cast, old and new sitting down for their first table read, the hype game has truly started early for the critically-acclaimed series’ comeback.

Amongst the new stars coming to Stranger Things are Maya Hawke, Jake Busey, Cary Elwes and Maya Hawke. Fan-favourite Priah Ferguson will also be bringing Lucas Sinclair’s little sister Erica back to the screen, in an expanded role for the batch of new episodes. Joe Keery’s Steve Harrington is also reported to have more screen time this time round.

Not much is known about the direction the show is headed, but we do know the Mindflayer is sat biding its time, waiting for an opportunity to strike back against Hawkins and the residents who took him down. We’ll also experience a 12-month time jump that takes audiences and characters a year ahead from the ominous season 2 finale.

With fewer episodes than season 2, Stranger Things season 3 won’t take as long to binge, so let’s hope the quality is at an all-time high! Returning cast members include the brilliant Winona Ryder and David Harbour, alongside the younger cast of Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Dacre Montgomery and Sadie Sink.

Stranger Things seasons 1 and 2 are available now on Netflix. We’ll bring you more news surrounding season 3 as and when we get it.
