The Amazing Spider Man 2

The Amazing Spider Man 2 has stormed to the top of the U.S. box office, taking $92 million in its opening weekend.

The Amazing Spider Man 2 sees Andrew Garfield return to the title role and Marc Webb to the director’s chair, and has already topped the box office in the UK.

The latest instalment to the Spider Man franchise toppled comedy The Other Woman from the #1 spot with ease after just a single week as the top American film.

The Other Woman fell just a single place to two, while Heaven is for Real was a none-mover at number three. Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a two-place faller this week: down from two to four.

The first Marvel film of the year has so far taken in excess of $679 million worldwide, and is currently the highest grossing movie of 2014.

Animation film Rio 2 was down a single place this week, to round off the top five. Brick Mansions was also down one at six.

Divergent is just one of the movies that was on the up this week as it jumped two places from nine to this week’s number seven. The Quiet Ones was down one at eight.

God’s Not Dead and The Grand Budapest Hotel were the other two movies that went up this week. God’s Not Dead jumped two places from eleven to nine, while The Grand Budapest Hotel was up three from thirteen to ten.
