The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book has been a huge critical and commercial success and has now taken $882,024,555 million at the global box office.

The film, which is directed by Jon Favreau and is based on the iconic novel by Rudyard Kipling, has jumped over Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to take that third spot.

Disney now has a strangle hold on the list of highest-grossing movies of 2016 with Captain America: Civil War and Zootropolis holding the top two spots.

The Jungle Book completes that trilogy of success as Disney movies have dominated the box office - and been well received critically - over the last few months.

So far, Civil War is the only film to have grossed over $1 billion at the box office and has taken $1,110 billion. It is currently the fourteenth highest grossing film of all time but it closing in on The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Zootropolis has almost reached the magical $1 billion mark - having taken over $993 million so far. It is only a matter of time before the animated film joins Civil War in the billion dollar club.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Deadpool complete the top five highest-grossing movies of the year so far on $871 million and $763 million respectfully.

The Jungle Book is a movie that is a mix of live action and CGI with the likes of Bill Murray, Idris Elba, Ben Kingsley, and Scarlett Johansson lending their voices to bring the characters of Baloo, Shere Khan, Bagheera, and Kaa to life.

We were also introduced to the acting talents of Neel Sethi, who made his acting debut taking on the central role of Mowgli.

The Jungle Book is the latest Disney film to be given a live-action makeover and follows in the recent footsteps of Maleficent and Cinderella. Beauty and the Beast is set to hit the big screen next year.
