Tilda Swinton In Talks For Doctor Strange Role

Tilda Swinton is being linked to a role in the upcoming Marvel movie Doctor Strange.

Filming on Doctor Strange is set to get underway this autumn and The Hollywood Reporter that Swinton is in talks to take on the role of the Ancient One.

In the comic, the Ancient One is a male character that trains Doctor Strange in the mystic arts after his hands are damaged in a car accident leaving him unable to continue his career as a neurosurgeon.

However, it looks like Marvel are going to move away from the comics when it comes to the casting of this role, and I am excited at what Swinton could bring to this part and the Marvel universe.

Swinton is one of the most versatile actresses in Hollywood today and it would be fantastic to see her back in a major blockbuster film. It remains to be seen if she will actually land the role.

Benedict Cumberbatch is set to take on the title role of Doctor Strange - this will be the biggest movie role of his career and the first time that we have seen him step into the Marvel world.

Doctor Strange is one of the new franchises that we will be introduced to over the next few years and sees Scott Derrickson in the director's chair.

Derrickson has brought us movies like Deliver Us From Evil, Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose in recent years and this will be his first Marvel film at the helm. It is always great to see new blood brought into Marvel and I really am looking forward to seeing what he delivers next year.

Cumberbatch is currently the only official member of the Doctor Strange cast list, however, Chiwetel Ejiofor is another actor who has been linked to the movie.

As for Swinton, she will be back on the big screen later this year with A Bigger Splash and has also finished work on Hail, Caesar!

Hail, Caesar! will see Swinton reunite with George Clooney - they worked together on Michael Clayton - while Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum are also on the cast list. The movie will mark the return of Joel and Ethan Coen to the director's chair.
