In a bid to get fans ready for the birth of the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe - a reboot of the classic Universal Monster movies from the 1920s through to the 1950s - Universal Pictures UK took to Twitter on Thursday (01.12.16) to reveal the film is getting close to completion.

The studio made an important announcement when it tweeted: "Welcome to a new world of Gods and Monsters. #TheMummy in cinemas this summer."

The tweet was then followed by a 15-second clip and the caption: "This Monday, see the worldwide debut of #TheMummy trailer. (sic)"

So far, fans have only seen videos of its stars Tom Cruise and Annabelle Wallis running through the streets of London in a key scene taken from the film in which the ancient mummified queen, portrayed by Kingsman's Sofia Boutella, is causing chaos in the modern day.

The anticipation for Monday's reveal is proving to be too much for Cruise, who simply can't wait to show the movie in its full glory.

The 54-year-old actor - who plays Navy Seal Tyler Colt - tweeted from his official account: "I'm excited to help bring #TheMummy to life. I can't wait for you guys to see the full trailer (sic)"

He is joined in the movie by Russell Crowe who portrays Dr. Henry Jekyll and his depraved serum-induced alter ego Mr. Hyde - creations from Robert Louis Stevenson's 19th century novella 'Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde'. Wallis portrays Jenny Halsey and Boutella as The Mummy.

The movie is the first release in the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe and is set for release in June 2017.

It is set to be followed by new creature features based around The Invisible Man, The Wolf Man, Van Helsing, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Bride of Frankenstein.
