Mark Wahlberg will threaten to "crack heads open" to get work done.

Mark Wahlberg thinks he is a good producer because he knows some people need "positive encouragement" and others are motivated by him taking a tough stance.

The 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' actor enjoys working behind the scenes as a producer and says he is good at the job because he understands how to motivate different groups of people.

He said: "I've got people where positive encouragement is going to get the best results and other people where I have to threaten to crack their head open."

The 42-year-old star began his production career with TV show 'Entourage' and says he made the change because he wanted to be in control and have the perfect projects to work on.

He explained: "I got tired of waiting for the right project to drop on to my desk.

"If I don't do it, nobody else is going to do it, and if I don't tell everybody how to do it, it's not going to be done the right way."

Though Mark does a lot of preparation for his acting roles, he insists he turns in a performance with "no great effort".

He told Britain's GQ magazine: "Everyone's different. I know some actors have their whole routine where they don't want anybody around them or they need to play music or whatever, but the James Cagney philosophy always made more sense to me. Prepare for the part. Be the part. And with no great effort, play the part.

"There were times on the set of 'Lone Survivor' where I'd be covered in blood, and I'd just be throwing a football around, playing games before a take and then the actor would yell, 'Action' and I'd do what I do."
