The first trailer for upcoming Marvel movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage has arrived, and boy does it tease what looks to be one of the most dramatic, chaotic and exhilarating comic book adaptations of all time!

Directed by Andy Serkis, we see Tom Hardy return to the lead role of Eddie Brock, aka Venom, after gaining some sort of control over his lethal protector who at one point, looked like he could be a major problem for the downtrodden journalist.

What many have been awaiting however, is their first look at Woody Harrelson in the role of the villainous Cletus Kasady, otherwise known as Carnage.

In a scene that looks to be Kasady’s final hour, in which he is injected with a serum we assume is being applied to bring his life to an end, the monster inside him instead allows him to break free, bringing ruin to the room in which he was held captive and quickly out onto the streets.

With a particular obsession with Brock, we’ll see the pair go head-to-head as Venom and Carnage battle it out in what will surely be one of the greatest bust-ups in Marvel’s cinematic history.

Harris meanwhile takes on the role of Kasady’s love interest; a woman who will go from everyday citizen to the Marvel villain Shriek. Exactly how much of her story we’ll see play out on the big screen this time round remains to be seen.

Hardy himself worked on the story for the film alongside Kelly Marcel, who put together the screenplay for the feature.

It appears clear that there will be a much-needed injection of comedy into the sequel, which was sorely lacking from the original film. Though many had their problems with that 2018 release however, it still brought in more than double its estimated budget of $100,000,000 at the box office, giving Sony the green light to move ahead with a second outing for the complicated comic book character.

A new creative team behind-the-scenes may be exactly what it needs to go from minor success, to major blockbuster.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage comes to cinemas across the UK on September 15th, 2021.
