Vin Diesel has revealed a sequel to The Last Witch Hunter has been given the go ahead - even though the first film has not hit the big screen yet.

Diesel is set to take on the central role of Kaulder in the upcoming film, which is released in November in the UK, while Breck Eisner will be in the director's chair.

But it seems that Lionsgate are so excited about the release of the first time that they have already approached the actor about appearing in a sequel.

In true Diesel fashion, he took to Twitter to tell fans about the new writing, "So the studio apparently is so excited by the Last Witch Hunter - The Axe and Cross franchise... that they are already commencing on the next one."

The Last Witch Hunter sees Diesel lead an impressive cast as Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, and Michael Caine are just some of the great names on board.

This will be the first time that Diesel has teamed up with director Eisner as he returns to the director's chair for the first time since horror movie The Crazies back in 2010.

2015 has already been a hugely successful year for Diesel as Fast & Furious 7 is currently the highest grossing movie of 2015. The seventh instalment of the popular franchise has grossed in excess of $1,511 billion and is close to leap-frogging Avengers Assemble to become the third highest grossing movie of all time.

An eight movie could well be in the pipeline.

The Last Witch Hunter is released 6th November.
