X-Men: Days of Future Past

X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to focus on the character of Charles Xavier.

James McAvoy will reprise the role of Xavier in the sequel to X-Men: First Class; Patrick Stewart is also back in the same role.

Screenwriter Simon Kinberg says that had a tough time deciding who to focus on in this film, but decided to hone in on the young Charles Xavier.

Simon Kinberg said: "One of the things we talked about a lot was, 'Whose movie is it?' Because as much as any ensemble movie is about all the main characters, there is a primary point of view or primary arc that you're tracking over the span of the film.

"For us, very early on, we made the decision that it was young Charles' arc and that, really, the emotional story of the movie is watching him go from the guy who's lost his legs, lost his best friend, lost his sister, and in some ways lost his mind, to a guy who will become the all powerful, benevolent Professor Xavier."

Days of Future Past will feature an all star cast as Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are the other First Class cast members returning.

Stewart, Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry are some of the original franchise stars on board.

There is also a familiar name in the director's chair as Bryan Singer returns to X-Men for the first time since X2.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is released 22nd May 2014.
