I Give It A Year

I Give It A Year

I Give It A Year hits the big screen this week and is the first must see romantic comedy of 2013.

And there are some terrific films in this genre that are heading out way this year and we are taking a closer look at them.

I Give It A Year

Seeing as I Give It A Year is released this week it seems like a good place to start as Rafe Spall joins forces with Rose Byrne.

The pair play a married couple trying to get through the trials and tribulations of the first year of marriage after deciding to get hitched not long after they met.

The film marks the big screen directorial debut for Dan Mazer - who has also penned the screenplay - but he has brought together a fantastic cast.

Byrne and Spall are joined by Simon Baker, Minnie Driver, Anna Faris and Stephen Merchant.

I Give It A Year is released 8th February

About Time

It has been a while since we have seen Richard Curtis in the director's chair but he is back with a new British rom com - About Time.

You think Rachel McAdams would have had enough of falling in love with time travelling men but it seems she cannot help herself as she stars alongside Domhnall Gleeson.

As he goes through life, a young man who can travel through time learns his unique gift can't save him from the sorrows and ups and downs that affect all families, everywhere.

Curtis has also penned the charming screenplay to this movie and it is set to be an emotional rollercoaster.

Bill Night, Tom Hollander and Vanessa Kirby join McAdams and Gleeson on the cast list and this is one of the films in this genre that I am most looking forward to.

About Time is released 6th September.

A Case of You

Another great cast that has been brought together for the rom-com this year is in A Case of You.

The movie is the first screenplay from actor Justin Long and he has also produced the Kat Coiro directed film.

A Case of You follows a writer who has tried to impress a girl he has met online - slightly embellishing the truth about himself in the process.

But when she falls in love with him he has to keep up the act.

Evan Rachel Wood will lead the all star cast that includes Justin Long, Sam Rockwell, Busy Philipps, Brendan Fraser, Sienna Miller, Vince Vaughn and the fab Peter Dinklage.

The Big Wedding

You cannot have a year of rom-com movies without there being a wedding film in the mix and 2013 does not disappoint on that front.

I love a good wedding film as they are filled with chaos, fighting and hilarity and The Big Wedding is the movie not to miss this year.

The Big Wedding is an American remake of the original 2006 French film Mon frère se marie and sees Justin Zackham in the director's chair.

Follows a charmingly modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco.

To the amusement of their adult children and friends, long divorced couple Don and Ellie Griffin (Robert De Niro and Diane Keaton) are once again forced to play the happy couple for the sake of their adopted son's wedding after his ultra conservative biological mother unexpectedly decides to fly halfway across the world to attend.

The fantastic De Niro and Keaton join forces while Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfried and Ben Barnes are on the cast list.

The Big Wedding is released 31st May

Baggage Claim

Baggage Claim is also a film to watch out for as David E. Talbert returns to the director's chair.

The film sees him direct the adaptation of his own novel - he has also penned the screenplay.

Montana Moore, a 35-year-old flight attendant, determined not to show up to her baby sister’s engagement party without a fiance of her own, concocts her most romantically ridiculous plan yet: a 30-day, 30,000 mile trek in search of a husband.

Paula Patton takes on the central role of Montana and she is joined on the cast list by Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Derek Luke.
