The Help Cast

The Help Cast

The Help threw it's name into the hat for Best Picture at the 2012 Oscars as it walked away with three Screen Actors Guild Awards last night.

The fight for Best Picture is widely regarded to be between The Artist and The Descendants but it seems that The Help, which is an adaptation of the Kathryn Stockett novel is ready to spoil the party.

It was a good night all round for the hard hitting drama, which really is a movie that you should check out if you have not yet seen it, as it scooped; Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress.

Viola Davis missed out to Meryl Streep at the Golden Globes but it was she who triumphed at the SAG's for her performance as Aibileen Clark.

The Academy has been known for overlooking Streep for the Best Actress prize so could Davis walk away with the biggest prize in film?

Ocatavia Spencer continued her award winning streak she added the Screen Actors Guild prize to the Golden Globe she won a couple of weeks ago.

She fought off tough competition from the likes of Berenice Bejo, Jessica Chastain, Melissa McCarthy and Janet McTeer.

Jean Dujardin strengthened his Oscar position as he walked away with Best Actor for his central role in The Artist.

It's widely believed that Oscar fight is between him and George Clooney as they both won Golden Globes earlier this month.

And in the Supporting Actor category Christopher Plummer's winning run continued for his performance in Beginners.

Fingers crossed that he does go on to win the Oscar as he is one of those actors who has been overlooked over the years!!
