The 33

The 33 is promising to be a powerful story of the strength of the human spirit, which is based on an incredible true story that the whole world was watching back in 2010.

Patricia Riggen is set to return to the director's chair for the film and the first trailer for the movie has been unveiled - it really does look like it is going to be a powerful and touching human drama. Check it out:

The 33 will be the third feature film for Riggen and will be her first movie since Girl In Progress back in 2012.

The movie has brought together a wonderful cast last in what is one of the most exciting ensemble casts of early 2016.

Antonio Banderas is set to take on the central role of Mario Sepulveda and is joined on the cast list by Juliette Binoche, Gabriel Byrne, Rodrigo Santoro, James Brolin, Lou Diamond Phillips, Naomi Scott, and Cote de Pablo.

In 2010, the eyes of the world turned to Chile, where 33 miners had been buried alive by the collapse of a gold and copper mine. Over the next 69 days, an international team worked tirelessly in a desperate attempt to rescue the trapped men as their families and friends, as well as millions of people they had never even met, waited anxiously for any sign of hope.

But 200 stories beneath the surface, provisions - and time - were quickly running out. A story of resilience, personal transformation and triumph of the human spirit, the film takes us to the Earth's darkest depths, exploring the private lives and psyches of the men trapped in the mine, and depicting the courage of those who refused to give up.

The 33 is released 29th January.
