The Armstrong Lie

The Armstrong Lie

Alex Gibney has been behind some fantastic documentaries over the years such as Taxi To The Dark Side and Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson in recent years.

He is back in the director's chair with his brand new film The Armstrong Lie: a movie that looks at the life and sporting achievements of Lance Armstrong, as well as the doping scandal that shook the sport.

The Armstrong Lie is a riveting film that gives us a close look at this once sporting icon - check out the new trailer for the film:

This was a filming process filled with turmoil for Gibney as the doping scandal broke in the middle of filming.

He set out to make a movie at the will and the determination of Armstrong, and he ended up looking at how he fooled the world.

While many filmmakers would panic when their plans go awry Gibney put himself in the middle of his film so explain that he had been won over by Armstrong as well.

In 2009 Alex Gibney was hired to make a film about Lance Armstrong’s comeback to cycling. The project was shelved when the doping scandal erupted, and re-opened after Armstrong’s confession.

The Armstrong Lie picks up in 2013 and presents a riveting, insider’s view of the unravelling of one of the most extraordinary stories in the history of sports. As Lance Armstrong himself says: 'I didn’t live a lot of lies, but I lived one big one.'

There have been some wonderful documentaries so far this year, and The Armstrong Lie is another gem.
