The release of The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug is creeping closer and closer and it is a movie that I really am very excited to see.

Peter Jackson will be taking audiences back to Middle Earth, as the adventure of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin and the rest of the dwarves continues.

An Unexpected Journey finished with the group looking out to a distant Erebor, and now we are going to get to see the lost kingdom up close.

Here is a new three minute sneak peak from the latest instalment of tThe Hobbit trilogy:

The first film very much set the scene and introduced us to all of the character, but The Desolation of Smaug has more of an epic feel to it.

Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Ian McKellan, Ken Stott and Aidan Turner are some of the familiar faces that are returning... but there are some new names to watch out for.

Orlando Bloom is no stranger to Middle Earth after his exploits in The Lord of the Rings, he is set to make his first appearance in this new trilogy as he reprises the role of Legolas.

We are going to see more elf action this time around as Lee Pace and Evangeline Lily are also on board as Thranduil and Tauriel.

Luke Evans is set to play Bard the Bowman, while Benedict Cumberbatch will bring Smaug to life - this is the character that I am desperate to see.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventures of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug is the movie not to miss this December, and we are already looking forward to seeing it.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is released 13th December.
