The Monuments Men

The Monuments Men

The Monuments Men is set to be one of the February movies not to miss, as George Clooney is back.

We are big fans of Clooney here at FemaleFirst, and The Monuments Men will see him lead an all-star cast as well as be in the director's chair.

It is his first directorial outing for Clooney since the fantastic Ides of March, and I cannot wait to see him return.

We have a brand new clip featuring Clooney and Matt Damon for you to take a look at:

Clooney has assembled one hell of an impressive cast list as he and Damon are joined by Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, and Hugh Bonneville.

We are going to be treated to some wonderful ensemble casts this year, but The Monuments Men is one of the most outstanding - the cast list alone makes this movie worth a look.

Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men focuses on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners.

It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys - seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 - possibly hope to succeed?

But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.

Clooney has delivered some wonderful movies in recent years, and The Monuments Men looks set to be another gem. It is one that I personally cannot wait to see.

The Monuments Man is released 14th February.
