Me and Earl and the Dying Girl will hit the big screen tomorrow and is set to be one of the teen/coming of age movies of 2015. The movie was a huge hit at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and has been winning over critics and audiences ever since.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

The movie is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Jesse Andrews and sees Thomas Mann, RJ Cyler and Olivia Cooke take on the central roles of Greg, Earl, and Rachel, while Alfonso Gomez-Rejon is in the director's chair.

To celebrate the release of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, we take a look at some of the best groups that we have seen in teen movies over the years... do you have a favourite?

- The Plastics - Mean Girls

Ah, the plastics, a group that despite their flaws every girl in one aspect or another would like to be, and boys would like to date, albeit maybe rather briefly. Despite their catty tendencies and inevitable bust up, this group of girls have a demeanour about them that you cannot help but find fascinating, how they walk through that school with such an air of importance.

Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert took on the roles of Regina George, Karen Smith, and Gretchen Wieners, while Lindsay Lohan took on the role of Cady Heron, who finds herself in the clique. Mean Girl, which was written by adapted by Tina Fey and directed by Mark Waters, was a movie that sent the stars of Lohan, McAdams, and Seyfried rocketing.

- The Heathers

A more sinister entry here from The Heathers, this group of girls explores the trials and tribulations of high school and popularity. Although this dark-comedy takes an eerie turn from Veronica, again this popular, feared and hated group of girls follows a similar path of fascination as our infamous 'Plastics'.

The Heathers is one of my favourite teen movies from the eighties and saw Winona Ryder take on the central role of Veronica. Kim Walker, Shannen Doherty, and Lisanne Falk took on the roles of Heather Chandler, Heather Duke, and Heather McNamara. Heathers is a dark and funny teen film that is unlike any other movie that is in this genre.

- Clueless Gang

Now, these three girls go down in history as one of the top groups for sure. They may be small; starting out as just Cher and Dionne, we then see the fashion and beauty inept Tai enter the scene. The girls take Tai under their wing to teach her everything she needs to know about boys and high school.

You absolutely cannot help but fall in love all over again with their fashion sense and style, and you can't not secretly want your own little computer which matches all of your outfits for you!

Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, and Brittany Murphy took on the central roles of Cher Horowitz, Dionne Davenport, and Tai Frasier and is the movie that the trio are most remembered for.

- The Barden Bellas - Pitch Perfect & Pitch Perfect 2

This group move away from your 'Plastics' and 'Heathers' of school, and instead look at a group of friends who all come from different backgrounds, religions, and social cliques, but they join together to create something pretty awesome.

Pitch Perfect is one of the more recent teen movies and has enjoyed huge success in the last couple of years - the second film in the franchise was released earlier this year and was a box office smash.

Anna Kendrick led the cast as Beca Mitchell, while Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson, Ester Dead, and Alexis Knapp were all also members of the Bellas. The Treblemakers are also a great group in the film and were the big rivals of the Bellas in the regional and national acapella championships.

- The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants

Everyone can empathise with this group at one point in their lives, having to separate with your best friends, be it for university, new jobs or just, like in this case, for the summer holidays, everyone can be worried about how they are going to keep in touch and remember each other.

I mean, sure, these days we use facebook or whatsapp, but you have to totally love the concept these girls come up with. They will all have the exact same pair of jeans which they will wear wherever they go this summer to remember each other and give them courage- cute!

- The Breakfast Club

We've all had our fair share of naughty antics at school, maybe the odd detention.. I bet, however, that people who have had detentions and come out as a group of friends with the different people in the room, are few and far between.

This group of naughty scallywags all come from totally different social cliques; we have the brainy one, the pretty one, the basket case and the troublemaker, yet they all bond over their detention (the longest detention I have ever heard of, ever!) and find that despite their different interests, friends, hobbies, they actually end up having a pretty good time.

The Breakfast Club is widely regarded as one of the greatest teen movies of all time and saw John Hughes back in the director's chair. Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, and Ally Sheedy took on the roles of the athlete, the princess, the brain, the criminal, and the basket case and became known as members of the 'Brat Pack' who went on to star together in a string of other films.

- Pink Ladies- Grease

I don't think anyone has ever seen so much sass for a group of adolescent girls. The pink ladies know exactly how to work the school, the boys, and their style. Whilst they sound like they are similar to the 'Plastics' or the 'Heathers' this group of gals have one monumental difference which really puts them up there on the list, they have each other's backs. Every one of the fantastic pink ladies looks out for the other, even Sandy, who begins as a bit of a black sheep in the group.

Rizzo, Marty, French, and Jan were the original members of The Pink Ladies - played by Stockard Channing, Dinah Manoff, Didi Conn, and Jamie Donnelly - and they welcome Sandy - Olivia Newton-John - into their exclusive group.

- T-Birds- Grease

The T-Birds appear to be your classic group of boys who all try to act extremely cool- which, in their defence, they do pretty well - And as though they don't really care about the Pink Ladies, school, girls, or anything really other than looking good.

However, with every one of the good-looking T-Birds, we see their softer side come through with the Pink Ladies and also with each other, as like our fabulous ladies in Pink, they look after each other and have each other's backs when needed, defeating your typical 'lad culture' group of boys- well done lads!

Danny, Kenickie, Putzie, Sonny, Doody made up the T-Birds and were played by John Travolta, Jeff Conaway, Kelly Ward, Michael Tucci, and Barry Pearl.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is in cinemas tomorrow.
