In recent years, Lawrence has proved that she is a wonderful character actress and Joy looks set to be another role that she can truly get her teeth into.

The movie is based on the life of entrepreneur Joy Mangano and sees Lawrence take on the central role as she reunites with filmmaker David O. Russell for the first time since American Hustle.

There's just over a week to go until the release of Joy and we have a couple of terrific new clips to whet your appetite. Check them out:

Joy has already picked up two Golden Globe nominations; Best Motion Picture - Musical/Comedy and Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical/Comedy for Lawrence.

Lawrence is no stranger to the Golden Globe spotlight as she already has four nominations under her belt and two wins for Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

However, Joy is not all about Lawrence as a stunning cast list has been assembled. The movie sees her reunite with Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro; this is her fourth collaboration with Cooper and the third time that she has worked with De Niro.

Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen complete the very impressive line-up.

Joy is the wild story of a family across four generations centred on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce.

Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy's inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces.

Joy is released 1st January.
