Jamie Blackley

Jamie Blackley

Jamie Blackley is an actor who is on the rise and a British actor that we need to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

Blackley is back on the big screen, this week as he teams up with Chloe Grace Moretz for the adaptation of If I Stay.

The actor kicked off his career in TV with the likes of Doctors, Casualty and Misfits all under his belt... but now he has made the leap to movies and his star is beginning to climb.

Blackley made his big screen debut back in 2009 with London Dreams, before going on to Prowl and Checkpoint.

A major role came just a couple of years later when he teamed up with Phil Daniel and Keith Allen in British comedy Vinyl. Since then, the roles have kept on coming and the roles are getting bigger and bigger.

Snow White and the Huntsman, Uwantme2killhim? And We Are The Freaks have all followed in the last couple of years.

Blackley returned to the big screen last year The Fifth Element, a movie that saw him team up with Benedict Cumberbatch and Daniel Bruhl.

The Fifth Estate was about Julian Assange and the website WikiLeaks, and saw Bill Condon back in the director's chair.

It has been nearly twelve months since the release of The Fifth Estate, but now Blackley is back with If I Stay.

If I Stay is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Gayle Forman, and is directed by R.J. Cutler.

The movie follows Mia Hall, who has an out of body experience after a car accident that has left here in a coma. She must decide whether or not to wake up a live... but it would be a very different life than the one she had imagined.

Blackley takes on the role of Mia's boyfriend Adam, alongside Moretz, Mireille Enos, Joshua Leonard, and Stacy Keach.

If I Stay is one of the biggest movie roles of Blackley's career, and is set to send his star rocketing even further.

And there is plenty on the horizon for the young actor, as he has already completed work on Kids in Love: which is the feature film directorial debut of Chris Foggin.

Kid In Love will see Blackley star alongside Will Poulter, Alma Jodorowsky, Sebastian De Souza, and Cara Delevingne: the movie really does boast a very exciting young cast.

Blackley has already worked with some exciting filmmakers during his short career, and now he can add Woody Allen to that list.

The as yet untitled film is set to hit the big screen next year and is already in post-production. Very little is known about the film, except that Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix, and Parker Posey will be joining Blackley on the cast list.

Blackley has already enjoyed a varied and successful acting career, but the next twelve months looks set to be a very exciting time for the actor.

If I Stay is out now.
