Oscar Isaac in Inside Llewyn Davis

Oscar Isaac in Inside Llewyn Davis

Oscar Isaac is returning to the big screen this week with Inside Llewyn Davis: a movie that sees him work with Joel and Ethan Coen for the first time.

Isaac has already enjoyed a career that has spanned over a decade, but Inside Llewyn Davis is set to be the movie and the performance that really puts him on the map.

Isaac kicked off his film career back in 2002 with a role in All About the Benjamins. However, it was 2006 when he landed a major role; he took on the part of Joseph on The Nativity Story.

Since then a string of roles have come his way with the likes of Che: Part 1, Body of Lies, Robin Hood and Drive all under his belt.

Inside Llewyn Davis is the first film from the Coen brothers since the success of True Grit - as you may expect, it is a film that has been winning over critics and audiences.

Inside Llewyn Davis follows a week in the life of a young folk singer as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961.

Guitar in tow, huddled against the unforgiving New York winter, he is struggling to make it as a musician against seemingly insurmountable obstacles... some of them of his own making.

Isaac has also found himself in the awards mix on a major scale for the first time, with nominations at the likes of the Golden Globes, Independent Spirit Awards and Gotham Independent Spirit Awards.

He has also been doing some winning in recent weeks as he has picked up Best Actor gongs at the Toronto Film Critics Association Awards, San Diego Film Critics Society Awards, and National Society of Film Critics Awards.

With Inside Llewyn Davis under his belt, there can only be bigger and better things from Isaac on the horizon. And we are going to be seeing plenty of him, as he has a whole host of projects in the pipeline.

He has already completed work on The Two Faces of January, Ex Machina, and Mojave.

The Two Faces of January sees him team up with Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst, as Hossein Amini makes his feature film directorial debut.

Ex Machina sees him star alongside Domhnall Gleeson and Alicia Vikander, while he teams up with director William Monahan for Mojave.

Oscar Isaac is an actor who has slowly been making a name for himself in recent years, but Inside Llewyn Davis is the film where he has really shown off his acting talent.

There is only one way for Isaac... and that is up. He is definitely an actor to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

Inside Llewyn Davis is released 24th January.
