Hugh Jackman in X-Men: Days of Future Past

Hugh Jackman is back this week in X-Men: Days of Future Past, as he reprises the role of Wolverine.

It was back in 2000 when Jackman took on this role for the first time in X-Men: it was a role that made his a global star.

Since then he has starred or appeared in X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, The Wolverine, and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

He is the only actor to appear in all of the X-Men films from 2000 to present day, and he has been given some terrific lines in that time.

- "You lost your money. You keep this up you'll lose something else." - X-Men

Logan is cage fighting in a bar in Laughlin City, Alberta when we are introduced to him for the first time.

However, his healing abilities meant he came out of the cage without a single bruise... something that does not go down well with the guy that he beat. This scene gives us the first look at Wolverine's impressive claws.

- "What do they call you? Wheels?"

After being rescued by Cyclops & Storm from an attack by Sabretooth, an unconscious Wolverine is taken to Xavier's school.

However, he is less than grateful and polite when he comes face to face with Xavier and the mutants who save him and Rogue. Wheels doesn't quite have the same ring as Professor X.

- "You call that a landing?" - X-Men

Logan like nothing more than getting under Cyclops' skin and rubbing him up the wrong way.

When Cyclops fails to land perfectly as the X-Men race off to Liberty Island to save Rogue, Logan sees the perfect opportunity to annoy Cyclops a little bit more.

- "You're a dick" - X-Men

On Liberty Island, we see Mystique take on the form of Wolverine in a bid to beat the X-Men: it results in Logan going head to head with himself.

With Mystique dealt with, he still has to prove to Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey he is the real Wolverine: a quick insult of Cyclops sorts that out.

- "You picked the wrong house, bub." - X2

William Stryker raids Xavier's school at the beginning of X2, to get their hands on some of the children as well as Cerebo.

However, they were not counting on having to do battle with Wolverine, who makes it quite clear that they have made a massive mistake. Wolverine then tries to protect the children in the school, and kills just about everyone!!

- Nightcrawler: "Guten tag."
Wolverine: [to Nightcrawler] "Who the hell are you?"
[to Jean and Storm]
Wolverine: "Who the hell is this"?
Nightcrawler: "Kurt Wagner, but in the Munich circus, I was known as The Incredib..."
Wolverine: "Yeah, save it." - X2

Wolverine has never been the most polite of people when it comes to meeting new people... and that trend continues in X2 when he comes face to face with Nightcrawler.

They meet for the first time in Boston, when a short stay with Bobby's (Iceman) parents doesn't go so well.

- "Yeah. We're outnumbered. I'm not gonna lie to you. But we lost Scott. We lost the Professor. If we don't fight now, everything they stood for will die with them. I'm not gonna let that happen. Are you?" - X-Men: The Last Stand

We really see the good side of Wolverine in X-Men: The Last Stand as he rallies the X-Men to fight against Magneto and The Brotherhood.

They may be outnumbered and likely to fail, but Wolverine will not allow Professor X and Cyclops die for nothing.

- William Stryker: You were sentenced for decapitating a senior officer. The warden tells me that your sentence was carried out by a firing squad at 1000 hours. How'd that go?
Logan: It tickled. - X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Wolverine and brother Victor Creed find themselves in all sorts of trouble at the beginning of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and face a firing squad.

Despite being sentenced to death, Wolverine can always see the funny side of the situation.

- "Go F*** yourself" - X-Men: First Class

Wolverine made a surprise cameo appearance in X-Men: First Class - dropping the only F-bomb in the movie.

Wolverine is tracked down by Erik Lehnsherr & Charles Xavier to join their mutant team... as you can tell, he wasn't interested.

- "I feel violated" - The Wolverine

Poor Logan has to endure a bath and a haircut by Yashida's servants before he can meet Yashida himself.

It seems that they got a little too close for comfort!!!

- [to Hank McCoy] In the future, you and I will be good friends.
[punches Hank in the face]
Logan: You just don't know it yet.- X-Men: Days of Future Past

And it looks like Logan is going to be on good form in this new film. When Logan travels back in time, he comes face to face with a young Hank McCoy. This is a little misunderstanding at first... what's new?

X-Men: Days of Future Past is released 22nd May.
