From Superman to Spider Man or Bilbo to Christian Grey, British talent has taken over Hollywood and bagged some of the most coveted roles in film.

Britain continues to produce some of the hottest talent in the biz thanks to a popular cult-film following that nurtures young actors to become Hollywood’s hottest properties.

In Justin Edgar’s energetic new comedy We Are The Freaks, up and coming British talent Jamie Blackley and Amber Anderson take centre stage as we watch three misfits embark on an eventful weekend that might change their lives forever.

To celebrate the release of Anti-teen Comedy We Are the Freaks we take a look at some of its leading actors as well some other up and coming talents who make up our Top 5 British Rising Stars.

- Jamie Blackley

Jamie Blackley plays the daydreaming misfit Jack in We are the Freaks trying to make it in the illustrious 90s.

Cut to 2012 and Jamie Blackley had gained his first major role in the American fantasy-adventure Snow White and The Huntsman and has just finished filming for British coming-of-age drama Kids in Love alongside Will Poulter and Cara Delevingne.

With a range of screen, television and stage credits, Jamie Blackley’s charm and talent is set to see his career go from strength to strength.

- Amber Anderson

Amber Anderson first shot to fame as a model whose striking good looks got her into British Vogue, Elle and a campaign with Burberry. However Amber’s past was firmly rooted in music and drama after her high school in Scotland invented the Performing Arts Scholarship especially for her.

Amber began to show her acting talent in roles on TV and short films before landing a lead role in Justin Edgar’s We Are The Freaks alongside fellow rising stars Jamie Blackley and Sean Teale.

Amber looks focused on developing her acting career and will next be seen Lone Sherfig’s upcoming feature Posh later this year.

- Will Poulter

Will Poulter started his career from the tender age of 15 as the star in the coming-of-age film Son of Rambow which premiered at Sundance Film festival and was critically acclaimed.

Poulter has since been proving his acting chops, notably in his performance as Kenny in American comedy We Are The Millers alongside Jennifer Aniston.

Having just won the 2014 BAFTA Rising Star Award and the lead alongside Academy Award-nominated Toni Collette in the upcoming film Glassland, Poulter doesn’t seem to be running out of steam any time soon.

Plastic and The Maze Runner are other high profile movies that are on the horizon for the actor.

- Imogen Poots

With no formal training in acting, Imogen Poots started her career with small TV roles and a non-speaking role in V for Vendetta before being spotted by fashion house Chloé to appear in a campaign for their new fragrance.

Since then Poots’ modelling career has flourished and her growing popularity has helped her land some of the most coveted leading lady roles in Hollywood including
That Awkward Moment with Zac Efron and Need for Speed alongside Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul.

With roles in upcoming films starring Christian Bale and Natalie Portman as well as the lead in romantic comedy She’s Funny That Way alongside Owen Wilson, it seems Imogen Poots is set to keep climbing up that Hollywood ladder.

- Alfie Allen

Gone are the days when Alfie Allen was just known as the younger, troublesome brother of Lily Allen who was the inspiration for her single ‘Alfie’.

Now Alfie is a star in his own right and has proven his acting ability comes with much more than just the 'Allen' charm.

After his some early small roles in Agent Cody Banks 2 and Atonement, Alfie shot to fame in the international television hit Games of Thrones as Theon Greyjoy.

Since then Alfie’s popularity has sky rocketed and will next be seen in the upcoming American action thriller John Wick alongside Keanu Reeves and Willem Dafoe.

We Are The Freaks is in cinemas from Friday and out on DVD from 5th May.
