Kate Havnevik
It's rare that you come across a singer with such an amazing voice that you wonder how you ever survived without her in your life, and trust me, when you hear Kate, you'll never go back to those half-assed singers you had in your CD player before.
Kate Havnevik is a Norwegian singer and songwriter from Oslo, her debut album, the trip-hop and electronica infused Melankton, was released in March 2006 on iTunes and April 2006 in Norway, before being licensed internationally later in the year.
Kate Havnevik has been working on her much-anticipated follow up to 'Melankton' with long-time collaborator Guy Sigsworth (Bjork, Alanis Morissette, Seal). The new album, yet untitled, is scheduled for release in the fall.
Kate wrote and recorded most of the album in Krakow, Poland, where she and Guy setup a studio. The album is pretty much finished, it's just a matter of a few tweaks to the mixes and some magic dust to be sprinkled on top. Then it just remains for Kate to choose the final song-list for the album and that's always a challenge.
One of the songs destined to be on the album is 'Halo' and on Feb 5th it is being released exclusively on iTunes via Universal Republic in North America and everywhere else in the world via Continentica Records.
The Grey's Anatomy music team has already picked up on it for a new episode to be aired on the same day as the iTunes release. This will be the 8th time Kate’s music will be featured in the show, which is unheard of in television history.
