Already acclaimed by Xfm as one of their top tips for 2009, Trip is a silver-tongued spitter with a lyrical affinity for the rollercoaster ride of city living - the comedy and drama played out in everyday lives. His debut single, ‘River Phoenix’, a tale of opportunity lost, is released on Autonomy Recordings on 12th April 2009.

Trip

Having cut his teeth as an MC on the live circuit with a succession of heavyweight players including Grooverider, Shy FX and most notably Scratch Perverts and Killa Kela, with whom he toured the world supporting the likes of Justin Timberlake, NERD, Busta Rhymes, Redman and Outkast, Trip recently returned to the UK and began work on his own genre splicing album, ‘ShortCuts’, alongside esteemed producer Lance Thomas (Ladytron, Mark Rae, Simian).

‘River Phoenix’, the album’s lead single, chronicles the exquisite highs and despairing lows of our protagonist’s first date. From the cocky nervousness of splashing on the Ralph Lauren and flirting over food, to her untimely discovery that River Phoenix has died, ending all hope of their first kiss, River Phoenix’s bittersweet narrative, underpinned by pumping bass, driving beats and a sublime lead riff, opens the door to Trip’s kaleidoscopic domain where the minutae of life is brought into incisive focus.

The single also boasts a tongue-in-cheek video made in a staggering two-hours. Taken from DayTrip a feature film spawned from the album ShortCuts, the movie was made by eleven different directors in a 24-hour period and shot in album running order and will be available on DVD with the album.

Set to tour with Goldie Lookin’ Chain throughout March, Trip’s debut single 'River Phoenix' is released on Autonomy Recordings on April 12 2009, the album 'ShortCuts' will follow in late Spring.
