"I got into music when I was very young. I used to listen to my parents' music collection and never missed an episode of Stars In Their Eyes.

"My uncle Tony always told me stories about his music career and spending time with Diana Ross and Louis Armstrong. I loved hearing his stories and when I was at his house, he would always play his piano for me and sing. He would get my mum to sing too, and also my grandmother who had an amazing soprano voice."

Jessie Lowes

It's easy to see just why Jessie Lowes is carving out a career in the music industry. Spending time with her musical family, she'd go under the "big bridge in Newbiggin" and sing scales with her uncle.

Her fifth birthday saw her gifted with her first keyboard, a karaoke machine and microphone.

"I would pretend my old tennis racket was a guitar to sing away to myself."

Eventually as she grew older, Jessie moved into foster care, and music remained a part of her life - something she could use to express herself.

Always being pushed to do well and with a family that believed she'd have her own musical journey one day, Jessie looked to singers such as Tina Turner, hoping to one day "own the stage the way she does."

Now she's releasing her debut single 'Stars', having switching up her life as a cage fighter and going after her dreams.

Inspired by the close relationship shared with her mother - who passed away due to cancer - the raw message shines through in a deeply emotional acoustic track.

'Stars' is due for release on September 22.
