Jay Z 40/40 bar caught up in law suit
Music publishers representing artists such as Kanye West and R Kelly have filed a law suit against rapper Jay-Z's 40/40 sports bar in Manhattan. The suit comes about after music by artists including Michael Jackson has been played but royalties have not been recouped.Jay Z however was not named in the suit, it was co-owners of the club Desiree Gonzalez and Juan Perez who were mentioned when the suit was filed by Broadcast Music Inc in federal court on Monday.The 40/40 club and its high profile owner were caught up in another legal battle last month as a waitress claimed the bar doesn't pay its wait staff minimum wage.
Jermain Dupri writing a book
The pint size Hip-Hop mogul Jermaine Dupri is writing a book which will come out through Atria, a subsidiary of the Simon and Schuster book company.

The tentative title of the book is Young, Rich, and Dangerous: My Life in Music is going to cover JD's relationships, both personal and private with names such as Mariah Carey, Usher and his girlfriend Janet Jackson.

The rapper/producer/CEO who is currently the President of Urban Music at Island/Def Jam was recently recognized by ASCAP at the 20th Annual ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards where he received a songwriter of the year award with Mary J Blige and Johnta Austin who is on Dupri's label.

TI punches Ludacris's manager
A scuffle broke out at a charity luncheon held by Kevin Liles of Warner Music Group in Los Angeles at the weekend between rapper TI and the manager of Ludacris Chaka Zulu.

This comes after TI spoke out against Atlanta's Ludacris winning the Grammy for best Rap Album this year. The altercation allegedly stemmed from an argument between the DTP President and Liles where rapper TI born Clifford Harris intervened and threw a punch at Zulu.

A statement from Chaka Zulu via his publicist published in Billboard said the incident was "an unprovoked attack from the rapper ' where Zulu "was forced to defend himself."

New album for Eminem?

There have been plenty of hints about it and reliable sources such as 50 Cent have also hinted that Detroit rapper Eminem will be making a come back in recent interviews but nothing official has been announced as yet.

The speculated title of the rappers new album is King Mathers. His last release was the Eminem Presents the Re-Up which hit shelves in December of last year and featured artists from his Shady roster including Bobby Creekwater and Ca$his. -- Melanie J Cornish www.TheHip-HopJournalist.com
