Warp’s very own post-everything heroes Gravenhurst will be releasing their sophomore single Hollow Men from their forthcoming album on Warp on the 17th of September. Hollow Men will be released in celebration one week after The Western Lands, their fourth album and by their own admission, their most ambitious work to date. With an abrupt barrage of sound unleashed as an introduction and the fierce sometime squalling twin guitar configuration forceful in its aim, Hollow Men seems to play out with combative intent. Whilst Gravenhurst will not allude to what Hollow Men is about, the propulsive music and murky lyrics are vividly ominous in the sonic world they create. Compared to the lush, lo-fi fuzziness of previous single release Trust, Gravenhurst’s versatility as a songwriter is apparent. The commanding presence of Hollow Men also gives some indication to the live experience of Gravenhurst; already a favourite on the live circuit, having toured with various acts Explosions in the Sky, Charlotte Hatherley and Animal Collective these last few months alone, as well as not one but two Glastonbury slots this year, Gravenhurst will be doing their own full UK tour in October.
