Matt working hard

As Madina Lake were suppose to be doing my job today, I thought we would see how well they coped at being on the other side of the interviewing ‘fence’ and got Matthew busy interviewing his new celeb best mate, Sean from The Blackout.

Hey Sean How are you?

I’m great, peacity man!

Loving your new track by the way, tell us the inspiration behind it…

Children of the night is inspired by The Lost Boys; it made me realise how cool it would be to be a vampire… sleeping all day partying all night and just being badass!

To anyone who hasn’t heard of you yet, how would you describe the Blackout’s sound?

Everything you’ve ever wanted in a band, minus the rapping.

If you were going to give us just one song to listen to so that you’d be our new favourites, what would it be?

It would have to be Save Ourselves, because it’s about standing up for what you believe in, in the face of adversity.

Yes, I totally see where you’re coming from, our new single, Never Take Us Alive comes from similar inspiration! So, if you could cover any other bands song, what would it be?

Well, we’ve recently been covering Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl and the crowd really go crazy for it.

Haha, we played next to Katy Perry on the Warped Tour and she freaked out screaming at us for setting up during her set…

First time on the warped tour for Katy… I think so!

Anyway, enough about her, can you sum up The Blackout for me in five words?

Sexy Bad Ass Mother Fucker!

And what makes The Blackout stand out from the crowd?

Probably the bleached blonde kid!

I can relate to that! It doesn’t seem to be negatively effecting his career though like it does ours! :/You also know we’re having a bit of an economic crisis at the moment… why should people spend their hard-earned cash on your cd?

Well, if you trust me, you’ll listen when I say that I believe in this record more than anything in the world.

I totally share your sentiment, it’s killer and I completely relate to making a record that’s true, honest and something you’re so proud of that it doesn’t matter if anyone else likes it.

Exactly. So true.

So, what three bands would you have to headline your dream festival?

Faith No More, Limp Bizkit and Justin Timberlake.

Wow, great choices, and what has been your favourite musical memory to date?

Probably discovering that my heroes are down to earth and I can actually say that I’m friends with some of them now… including Pharell from N.E.R.D.

If all of the bands equipment was on fire, what one piece of equipment would you save?

I’d let it burn!

Crazy! Who do you think is the greatest artist around at the moment?

Mike Patton

Okay, and if you could only listen to one CD for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Faith No More - King For A Day.

Now we want to ask you a few random questions, firstly, tell me about the most terrifying experience of your life…

Well, I have a fear of flying [We commiserated for a little while over the bitter recklessness of defying logic that flying does] a giant tube of Smarties flying through the air does not make me happy.

Okay, so moving on… what has been the most stupid purchase you’ve ever made?

I almost bought a £500 pair of Nikes once, they were see through and I believe he said they came with built in socks. Didn’t do it in the end, thankfully.

Brilliant! Thanks for taking the time out to talk to us, and best of luck with the music.

Cheers Matt, good luck with the new album.
