The festival season may have come to a close, but the awards season is just starting, with Bestival and Festival No 6 the big winners at today’s UK Festival Awards.

Bestival picked up the award for Best Major Festival, an award it won back in 2010.

Rob da Bank, who set up the fesitival with his wife Josie said: “What can I say? 7 out of 9 wins for Bestival in our class over the last few years so thanks so much for voting.

"We don’t really care about awards unless they’re voted for by you guys which this one was, so thanks for pressing the right button. Very exciting plans and acts up our sleeves for 2013 so watch this space.”

Festival No 6 nearly stole it’s thunder though, claiming three awards on the night, getting Best New Festival, Best Headline Performance for New Order’s set there and Best Promoter for Gareth Cooper.

Bradley Thompson, who Festival No 6’s organiser said ;“We are incredibly proud to have won both of these awards that we were nominated for at the UK Festival Awards and would like to thank those who voted for us and everyone that attended. Together we created something very special and these awards are for you!”

The Best Lineup award went to Download, while Green Man picked up the prize for Best Grass Roots Festival at the ceremony in London.
